Sport and activities

Outdoor games are played every afternoon and all boys participate in the following:

Autumn Term Soccer and Hockey

Spring Term Rugby, Hockey and cross-country Running.

Summer Term Cricket, Athletics and Swimming.

Other activities include: 

Tennis: Three all weather courts and one indoor court

Riding: Ponies, all weather riding school, show jumps and cross country course

Shooting: .177 Indoor rifle range

Swimming: Outdoor heated pool 

Golf: Chip and putt course 

Indoor sports take place in a large multi- purpose sports hall and include: Tennis, Short Tennis, Badminton, Indoor Cricket nets, Five-a-side football, Basket Ball, Gymnastics, Judo and Fencing.

The school employs specialist physical education instructors and professional coaches for tennis, golf, fencing and Judo. Boys who are particularly talented at a game are encouraged to develop their skills by playing at county level.

Many extra-curricular activities are available to boys and expeditions and field trips to places of interest occur throughout the year.

Adventure training takes place in the Brecon Beacons under qualified instruction and includes rock climbing, caving, canoeing and hill walking. Camping takes place in the summer. In addition, the school organises a popular skiing trip during the Easter holidays.

Hobbies of all kinds are actively encouraged so that boys may make creative use of their spare time. Among the most popular are fishing for trout and coarse fish on the lake, natural history, desk top publishing, golf, snooker, cooking and table tennis but there are many others. An area of the grounds is set aside for the boys' gardens.
